I'm Claire Fitzsimmons and I'm a passionate storyteller.

I am the Founder of Salty, a membership supported digital community that passes the mic directly to women, trans and nonbinary people to tell their own stories in their own voices and share their authentic lived experiences via our independent digital distribution network of 200,000 users. There is not one singular Salty voice, instead, Salty is a collection of many different perspectives and identities.

Beyond Salty, I have deep creative direction and production experience across various creative disciplines, including photo, design/animation, graphic design, and video editing. In my roles as a Creative Producer at Paper Agency, Nylon Media, Salty and as a freelancer, I’ve directed and produced innumerable assets for some of the biggest brands in the world. I’m an effective communicator who knows the value of selling the bigger picture to our team members, as well as clearly communicating the specifics: KPI’s and deliverables where appropriate. Not only am I driven by a fierce sense of creativity, I have experience building custom workflows to optimize productivity and empower our talent and collaborators to contribute their very best work.

Core to Salty's mission became the need to highlight issues of algorithmic bias against marginalized communities online. Beyond leading Salty's editorial team, I spearhead groundbreaking academic research with Salty's Algorithmic Bias Research Collective, now in collaboration with with University of Michigan. I've acted as a consultant towards determining the regulations for European Commission’s Digital Services Act, and partnered with Harvard Law School‘s Cyberlaw Clinic to create The Online Identity Help Center.  Salty has been identified by the United States Library of Congress as a digital artifact of historical significance to be preserved in the digital archives.

I understand that data and analytics are an integral part of the creative strategy of any modern brand. I’m a creative technologist, with a deep appreciation for how data turns our eyes to the future. I worked as Creative Strategist and Producer for Beth Comstock, Global Vice Chair of General Electric and Director of the GE Business Innovations Lab, which developed new businesses, markets and service models, and drove brand value and partners to enhance GE's inventive culture. Data is so cool.

As a self made digital media entrepreneur myself, I’m never afraid to roll up my sleeves to get the job done. I thrive in various high pressure situations - anything I don’t know how to do, I’ll figure it out. I’m bubbly, outgoing, smart and get along with basically anyone.

Thank you for your time,

Claire
